PRIDE & PREJUDICE

Okay, so Hollie Hibbert thought these might be illustrations for "Pride & Prejudice". The thought hadn't even occurred to me until then and I thought it was a good idea. Anyway, I hope you like it.

  1. Your woman is awesome! I love the S curve of her body and wrinkles in her dress. Love it! I love her hair and her facial features are feminine but strong. I also like the color contrast between the warm dress/face and the cool background. Also loving the line quality of thicks and thins. One crit. Her neck is feeling off. I'm having trouble putting my finger on it though.... I keep thinking about it. Oh and I also think your design/composition is working really well.
Now for your man. I like the pose and manliness despite his frilly neck. I did notice that his fist is the size of his face.... a little big, but the other hand seems proportionate to his body. I like the gear like background but the dark ones are bit distracting because of the contrast and business. If they were a bit lighter I think it'd work fine. I also like the play of warm vs. cool.

I hope you don't mind the long comment. I was feeling prolific....

  2. cassie, I don't mind one bit. I noticed the enormous fist as well. I totally forgot to tweak it in photoshop. Thanks for the input though, it's much appreciated.

  3. I saw you today at the Art Guild. I love your work. Pride and Prejudice is my favorite book. Do you sell prints of your work? How much would this one be?
    Thanks and Good Luck.
